Onrus & Vermont
Onrus and Vermont located mere minutes from the popular resort town of Hermanus, situated between mountain and sea, and has gained world-wide recognition as the world's foremost land-based whale-watching destination, as well as some of the country's best wine estates. Contributory factors to the success of the town are the the mild climate, the range of outdoor activities available and its close proximity to Cape Town and the airport.
Onrustriver (meaning Restless river) is nestled between the mountains and the Atlantic Ocean, an idyllic seaside village. It is within easy walking distance to one of the best surfing beaches in the area and is very popular particularly for those with children as the lagoon is safe for swimming or canoeing, or enjoy the tidal pool. Onrus has a quiet, mystical atmosphere and it is not surprising that so many creative people have made this their home. The works of many local and other South African artists can be seen at the galleries.
